Coat of arms of Budapest

10/04/2024

The coat of arms of Budapest is a red shield, protected by a golden lion on the left and a griffin bird on the right. On top of the shield is the Holy Crown, the most important symbol of Hungary. The silver ribbon in the middle of the shield represents the Danube, the largest and most important river in Hungary, not only in Budapest. In the upper part is the one-towered castle of Pest, and below the other side (Buda and Óbuda). Sometimes only the pjaz (without the crown and the animals) is visible.
